The value of our lives is found in our willingness to learn. Our walk of faith is defined by being teachable. Bishop Pate teaches that, “The power to define is the battle of the ages. Whoever controls the definitions, controls destiny.” A wise woman once told me, “Those who read, lead. Those who don’t, won’t.” We must get the next generation on fire to learn.

When I first heard about the Royal Kids Ministry in India, I was so moved by their story. Not only did it change the way I think about Christian education, it also encouraged me that children can be discipled to change a nation. India is not the same because of these children. Ministries are being impacted. Television is revolutionized because of their presence on the airwaves. And a new model for education has been raised up. Instead of schools coming out of the effort of the church, how about the school being the anchor for new churches to come forth?

For 18 years, Church Point Ministries Christian Academy served the local Baton Rouge community. From nursery to 4th grade, the faith of inner city children was cultivated and nurtured. Teaching babies the word of GOD can really start in the womb. Singing songs of praise and worship changed the atmosphere for the babies in the nursery who could experience being saturated in peace and love. The foundation of a Christian education made such a difference in the lives of both the older children and their parents. Transformation from the social ills of poverty must begin with a solid educational foundation.

Not wanting to see the children graduate at the 4th grade level to enter into public schooling, we took a big leap of faith and added a new curriculum that allowed us go from 4th grade to 12th grade. It was wonderful to see the children learn together across all ages. What was even more awesome is that we were able to individualize each child’s academic path thereby eliminating the public exposure of learning issues that might affect a child’s self-esteem.

Over the years, we have learned a lot about using creative expression to unlock each child’s learning potential. We also have remained committed to trusting GOD and HIS people to provide the resources to be able to operate without government constraints. Why does the Christian community think that we need the government’s resources to teach children about the KINGDOM of GOD? The “Trash to Treasure” model shows another way.

In 2004, our school closed because we moved the church across town. We successfully remodeled our new facilities and were planning to open a school in September of 2017 based on the model shown in “Trash to Treasure”. Then the flood of August 2016 hit and everything around us was washed away including the church and the surrounding neighborhood.

Yet we shall not be defeated! We can still open an after school program this fall with financial help. Please let this video inspire you, I pray it encourages your heart to open to see a more excellent way. I believe that you will donate to our efforts if you can. The next generation deserves better.
